MIRBOO North held Hill End scoreless for the entire match for just the 12th time in Mid Gippsland senior football history on Saturday.
The 20.21 (141) to 0.0 (0) scoreline was the first time a team had failed to score in a game since 1995.
Morwell Rovers recorded zero scorelines in 1952 against Hill End, three times during 1956 (against Boolarra, Hazelwood and Thorpdale) and against Hill End again in 1957.
Since then the 0.0 (0) final score has been recorded by Leongatha (vs Newborough, 1964), Mirboo North (vs Yallourn/Yallourn North, 1986), Boolarra (vs Trafalgar, 1990 and 1991) and Morwell East (vs Yinnar, 1991 and 1995).
Mirboo North kicked its highest score of the season and it was the biggest winning margin by any team this year, eclipsing Trafalgar's 140 point win over Thorpdale in round one.
Half forward Kris Berchtold and ruckman Don Webb each booted five for the Tigers.
Webb continued his brilliant season and was named best along with Simon Busuttil, Clancy Bennett and Allister Keel.
For Hill End, coach Justin Rea, Ryan Collins and Brad Grima were among the better players on a day they would rather forget.
Bombers hold off Panthers
YALLOURN/YALLOURN North ended a run of two straight losses against Yarragon, with an 11 point win.
The Bombers held a 22 point lead at half time and the Panthers had yet to score a goal.
Yarragon had a strong second half, holding YYN goalless in the third quarter and almost snatching the game in the fourth.
But in terrible winter conditions the Bombers held on to win their ninth game of the year and moved up a notch to fourth on the ladder.
Leo Galea, Barrie Burnett, Andrew Burnett and Owen Budge were YYN's best while for Yarragon James Moyes, Brad Wheller, Ben Damschke and Kevin Grima got the honours.
The shootout between the league's leading goal kickers Tim Phillips and Ren Anderson did not eventuate in the wet, with each held to just two. Phillips now has 63 for the season, followed by Anderson with 49.
Bloods take control in second half
TRAFALGAR powered away with a big second half to beat Boolarra by 71 points.
The Bloods led by just seven points at half time against the Demons but kicked 11 goals to one in the second half to record a comfortable victory.
Blake Slater kicked four goals for Trafalgar to take his tally to 33 for the season.
Tim Keily, Leigh Stevens and Cohan Lee were the Bloods' best while for the Demons James Holmes, Brendan Santurini and Daniel Wilson played well.
Dogs bounce back
NEWBOROUGH rebounded from its round 16 loss with a 33 point win over Thorpdale.
The Dogs led at every change and held Thorpdale to just one goal in the second half.
Chris Payne was a welcome return to the Dogs' line-up with five goals. Shane Ryan, Robert Wilson and Jason Allan were Newborough's best.
Better players for Thorpdale included Michael Chapman, Daniel Hammond and Daniel Grima.
