ROSEDALE'S faint hopes of playing in the North Gippsland finals were dashed on Saturday.
The gallant Blues went down by 17 points against Glengarry after they conceded four goals to two in the second quarter.
The match was an even affair and both sides battled hard in a see-sawing first quarter as they made the most of their early opportunities in front of goal.
Glengarry took a one point break into the first change.
The home side carried their momentum into the second quarter and put together a solid term to break away to a two goal lead.
The two sides contested an even third quarter. The Blues won the term and tried to chip away at the Magpies' half time lead.
Nine points favoured Glengarry at the final break and both sides contested a hard hitting final term, with the Blues playing to keep their slim finals hopes alive.
It wasn't enough to get Rosedale over the line with the second placed Magpies holding on to win 12.12 (84) to 10.7 (67).
Rosedale has the bye this weekend and cannot close the gap to the final five.
Glengarry's Rory Jennings and Ryan Wissmer were in match winning form. The Magpies finished the match with 10 individual goal kickers.
Rosedale's challenge on the scoreboard was led by Brad Caldwell and Ben Macreadie who finished the day with three apiece, while Joe Caldwell and Macreadie were named among the best.
Roos' big comeback
HEYFIELD came from 29 points down at half time to record an unlikely 20 point win over Boisdale.
Eight points separated the two sides at the quarter time siren before the Bombers stamped their authority on the match.
They booted five goals to two in the second quarter and had all the momentum.
David Berry slotted through his first in the second term but the Roos responded with the next two through Mark Stevens and Nathan Wellins.
The Bombers scored the final four for the term and led at half time 10.7 (67) to 6.2 (38).
Andrew Lambie and Trent Anderson led a brilliant Heyfield defence that strangled the Bombers after half time.
The Roos kicked five goals in the third quarter and six in the last in a huge second half against this season's biggest improver.
The Bombers were brave and adventurous early, before Heyfield's ruck supremacy triggered a run of all-important centre clearances.
Jordon McDonald and Luke Conway ran rampant in the middle of the ground.
The game came to a standstill in the middle of the third quarter when Heyfield club stalwart Aaron Duffy was stretchered off after a heavy blow which resulted in the Bombers being one man down after Carr was yellow carded.
The incident lifted the intensity of the Roos but they were without one of their most reliable defenders.
Early in the final term Mark Stevens put the home side in front for the first time since the opening quarter.
They had their second for the term in as many minutes as Conway and Mitch Dowse combined in the middle of the ground.
The game was stopped again when Heyfield captain Andrew Stevens was stretchered from the ground with a suspected ankle injury.
The rain began to fall as both sides worked hard to move the ball along the wing to their advantage.
The Roos' 11 goal to four second half sealed the 17.10 (112) to 14.8 (92) victory.
Berry was the pick of the goal kickers booting four, while Mitch Dowse finished the match with three including two late in the final term. For the Bombers, coach Andrew Gieschen booted four.
Massive win to Cougars
CHURCHILL boosted its percentage with a 180 point demolition of Stratford.
The Cougars piled on nine majors in the opening term, five in the second and another nine in the third quarter.
They showed their premiership potential, winning 32.12 (204) to 3.6 (24).
Nathan McDonald kicked six goals and was one of 13 individual scorers for Churchill.
Chris Johnson and defender Travis Brighton also dominated for Churchill, while Ben Channing and Tyson Bush were shining lights in a dark day for the Swans.
Tiger midfielders dominate
LADDER leader Gormandale dominated the first three quarters against Cowwarr before taking the foot off the pedal to be held goalless in the final term.
Gormandale blew the game apart in the first half booting 10 goals to one in the wet conditions. The Tigers put the result beyond the Saints' reach.
The home side added five more goals to one in the third but the Saints won the honours in the final term with three goals.
Gormandale midfielders Shayne Simpson and Bobby Pacunskis were among the side's best players and Daniel Domaille, Wayne Henry and Steve Hazelman scored three goals apiece.
Seasoned youngster Shane Morgan led from the front for the Saints while Marcus Pilgrim and Kevin Hood made valuable contributions.
TTU too good

The Bombers built on their handy buffer at the first two changes and claimed their fifth win of the season.
