Answering life's burning questions

4/08/2008 2:16:00 PM
AS a family therapist Sandra Clough often gives advice about love and resilience.

In her 20 years as a counsellor, Sandra (pictured left) noticed she was being asked many of the same questions about life.

It was this observation which led the Traralgon woman to write a book which will now be distributed worldwide.

`Love and Other Noxious Needs' combines a number of themes which Sandra believes are central to people's perception about themselves, their relationships with others and the world.

``It is a book for every person to answer the questions people ask about stress and life and how to feel good and also for those people working on self development,'' Sandra said.

After discovering there weren't any books which covered the broad range of themes she was being consulted about, Sandra wrote her own guide for dealing with life issues.

``The methods I use in the book are about dealing with your emotional struggles and knowing how to have a positive fulfilling life,'' she said.

``It brings together all the ideas and experience I have to help people. It combines a lot of methods.''

While writing the book, Sandra drew on her 20 years experience as a counsellor and more than 20 years experience as a yoga teacher.

``I hope the book provides a guide for people to live their life, comfortable in their own skin and understand why they are the way they are,'' she said.

``It deals with emotional resilience, anxiety and fear, the need for security, grief and communication, how to relate to others, a sense of self and a sense of meaning.''

`Love and Other Noxious Needs' is available at bookshops and Traralgon Newsagency.

Sandra now plans to hold a six hour workshop based on the teachings in her book.

The `born to live with emotional freedom' workshop will be held on Saturday 16 August.
